ARC at the Austin Filmmaker’s Academy

August 23, 2010

July 6th through August 14th, several ARC students participated in the first annual Filmmaker’s Academy.  The Academy itself was put on in part by Paul Hastings, an alumni of the Austin Rhetoric Club.

Four ARC students participated in this year’s Academy. The short films they produced over the course of the summer can be viewed here:

Week 1: The Cup

Week 2: Identity

Week 3: All You Can Eat

Week 4: It’s In The Bag

Their final production, Obsession (not yet posted online), was awarded first place in the closing film festival.  Congratulations to Christina Hastings, Jonathan Morgan, William and John Umstattd, and the rest of their team!

Rick Green spoke at October ARC meeting

January 3, 2010

From Team Policy debate coach Tracie Upham:

I hope you enjoyed hearing Rick Green’s patriotic talk at our October party and hayride. You know how he loves to encourage fellow speakers and future leaders! Rick spoke about our founding fathers and gave out several of his books to students that could correctly answer his history questions.

If you were not there, you should also know that Rick Green is currently running for the Texas State Supreme Court. Why should that matter to you?

1. As most of you know, Rick is a fellow homeschool dad and was also homeschooled himself. His was one of the early homeschool families in Texas that paved the way before the Leeper decision. Texas just lost our only homeschool dad on the Supreme Court, and homeschooling has been an issue at state supreme courts recently… recall the California Supreme Court almost destroying homeschooling last year when ruling that homeschool teachers must be certified. We need to know that there is a Justice on the court that will stand up for the Leeper decision and protect homeschooling.
2. Parental Rights. I have known Rick for almost 10 years, and I know he is very strong on parental rights. He worked hard last session to get SB 1440 vetoed by Governor Perry. This bill, which was tacked on to a non-controversial bill at the last minute, would have given CPS unprecedented access to your children without probable cause.
3. Voting in judicial races is important for all of us.

Ezra 7:25 “Set magistrates and judges… all such as know the laws of thy God.”

How to post a video onto Blip.tv

January 25, 2009

Ok, so I’m going to try to make this as simple as possible.

Steps

1. Record video with web cam.

2. Sign up for a Blip Account at Blip.tv . (it’s easy)

3. I saved the movie to Windows movie maker then transfered the movie onto Blip.

Blip has some pretty easy step by step instructions.

Oh, and when you’re finished uploading it, don’t forget to e-mail Thomas the link to the video!

If you need any more help, just e-mail me or, if you want to, you can Google it. :) I hope it helps!

-Ben Chambers
